I'm in my sophomore year at Amherst College, working towards a dual major in English and German. In addition to languages, I have a solid background in physics. My tutoring experience began in high school when I assisted students with essay writing. I am also adept at tutoring English, Spanish, and German. The teaching/learning technique that works best for me is to break down the problem to its basics. Even the most complex topic becomes clearer once its fundamentals are known and recognized. Once a pattern is identified, the material becomes clearer and easy to understand. As an instructor, I believe every student has great potential once they discover their own unique learning style and the best way to use it. The fact that I'm young and still attending college helps me connect with my students because I'm not that far removed from their current experience. It wasn't that long ago that I went through the same subjects and issues many of them are now experiencing. I commiserate and assure them that the current conundrum in which they find themselves is crackable. It's all about looking at the entire puzzle, deciding on the best method of attack, then watching the pieces fall in place.
